Safewalls in Madrid 2011

Safewalls is a video series sponsored and conceived by Cirque du Soleil as a project to collaborate with three street artists in creating works inspired by the Cirque du Soleil’s travelling shows. The project is called Safewalls, referring …to legal spots in the urban landscape for local graffiti artists to do their work without the fear of sanctions (safewalls.org)

The latest is the Madrid video, seen at Wooster Collective, that showcases among Miss Van, Nuria Mora and Ricardo Cavolo, spanning illustration, street art and mixed mediums. Street style shots, high production value and great showcases of wordspace, past works result in a great little mini-series on street art biopics.

These are videos to be inspired by in our opinion. Although we understand corporate sponsorship results in this cross-pollination between selling the Cirque du Soleil’s image and the production of names like Safewalls, the flip side is high production value, getting perspective from well-known artists, and creating these series of lush images, shots and cinematography.

Big ups, and check out these artists’ work at their respective sites.
