If you haven’t seen this yet, it’s actually pretty awesome. TED prize winner JR talks about turning the world upside down through street art and recounts stories of infiltrating and documenting Brasil’s favellas, as well as early “street galleries” he was putting up in Paris. So Rad!
The reason we document the local graff scene in DC is the same reason that graffiti and street art continues to thrive and sprout up across the world from suburban neighborhoods, urban jungles to drug cartel war-zones. When an artist like JR has reached the public consciousness, only good things can come out of it.
